Terms and Conditions

By commissioning me, Stardust Spence, you will agree to the following:

   

   1. Patience.

I have a life outside of commissions and I actually only do my commissions on OFF TIME so patience is the key to getting your art! Commissions often take awhile during the fall, winter, and spring (due to my attendance in university) but will be much faster during the summer with frequent communication either way! I will always be honest about where I am in the commission process and you are always welcome to ask about works-in-progress anytime! 

     

  2. Relevant Conversation.

Commissions are really fun for me but I am not doing client work online to make friends. If we work together on multiple occasions, I will EASILY chit-chat with you (and either way be friendly if you’re friendly) but I would rather keep our relationship professional (but casual) until we get to know each other WITH TIME. Long story short, my DMs are open for commissions exclusively, not to become friends out of the blue. Never hesitate to message me about quotes, questions, or anything business related! I’d love to talk with you about it!

 

  3. Upfront Payment.

I will only be using PayPal or Venmo for invoices and I will not start your commission until payment is received in full. If you cannot pay immediately, genuinely no worries. This is common and I will add you to my queue if you have a vivid idea of what’d you’d like! Please make sure you know you will be able to commission me at some point to assure the folks who are also in similar situations can get their fair share with waiting time. I will add you to my queue and if someone is able to pay before you, they will get their commission first.  If you ever feel like you may not be able to commission me after being added to my priority queue, please let me know! I will never be offended in any way, I would just appreciate the transparency so I can work with other folks!

 

  4. Special- Case Refunding.

If I start working on your commission and I know I will not be able to complete it (due to family issues, emergency scenarios, or challenges with your commission’s complexity,) I will propose a commission refund to you. This does not work the other way around. So if you run into issues with how the commission turned out or a sudden want to cut the process, I will not refund the payment to you. This is mainly to prevent ghosting and stealing of work. You may always cancel your commission but I will not refund any payments if the piece is at/past a detailed sketch. 

 

It’s important to communicate with me as I send you works-in-progress (WIPs) to what you’re looking for. If I send you a sketch of an you say you like it, but later as I’m coloring and you change your mind, I WILL NOT change main poses, characters, or major aspects to the piece. Minor patterns and accessories are fine to changing, BUT please PLEASE ask for changes before I start rendering!!! This will make the process easier (and more pleasurable) for you and me. If needed, I can charge you to re-pose your commission but I hope this is a last case scenario so YOU don't have to pay extra and I can get your piece to you faster! 

 

Similarly, you may not get free re-commissions if your character has any design changes. This means if you have a piece of commissioned work from me and your character in that piece gets a design change after I finish the artwork, I will not update the piece for you unless paid for. Most of the time this paid-change is possible (especially for reference sheets) but for larger rendered pieces, it’s challenging and may be more worth your time to get the piece re-done entirely.

 

   5. Usable References.

What is a usable reference? A usable reference is a reference that has (mostly) no shading, is 2D, has an accurate front and back view (meaning the design in the front corresponds to the design on the back,) has minimal clothing/accessories that show all relevant designs, and is not AI OR STOLEN. If you’re commissioning a full character piece and the reference has a full outfit on, but you do not pay for the outfit they are wearing in the reference, that is not a usable reference. However, if you’re only commissioning a profile picture (just the head and neck) then that reference would (most likely) be okay! If you are not sure if a reference is usable in a certain context, feel free to message me and I can help you out!

 

   6. I Can Decline Service to Anyone.

This is pretty explainable, however, I will not deny you service purely because of race, ethnicity, gender orientation, sexuality, physical or mental disabilities, or income status. I do not work with racists, homophobic/transphobic people, pedophiles, ableists, heavy AI users/"artists," and of course any other flavor of problematic behaviour. If at any point in the commission process I feel uncomfortable working with you, I may or may not let you know. Please don't let it get to this point. My least favorite thing about commissions is denying someone service because they can't act, behave, or treat me or other people with kindness and respect. ​
